It has been a long hot summer.  I like it hot but not this hot.  It is too hot to go outside today so the kid and me are just chillin' at the house.

Hubby and I went for a ride yesterday.  He says he is practicing being retired cause he is retiring in Sept and wants to see if he can handle not working.  He seems to be doing quite well with it.  WE HAD FUN RIDING.

I started this yesterday but did not get it finished.   My husband is, or was the type that would freak out if he got lost.  Yesterday he got lost and we  happily drove around seeing the Amish and many other things.

Today we had to go to New Castle Pa.  It is a city we had never been to before.   He got lost.  I waited for the explosion but none came.  "Why aren't yelling?"  I asked.

"I told you I am practicing for being retired.  I want to enjoy my rides."

Practicing for retirement is okay but I hope he is not practicing for it when he is following me around the kitchen, telling me what to do and how things would taste better if this or that was done to the food.  I looked at him the other day and said, "Remember the time you told me your mom fixed chili better then me?"

Of course he did not remember.  His memories are selective at times.   He had to audacity to tell me his mom made better chili then me so I told him the next he wanted chili, his mom could fix it.   Several months later he asked for chili and I said, very sweetly, "Get your mom to fix it."  A few months later I wanted it very badly so I swalllowed my pride and asked her how to fix it.

Yesterday he said something I did not care for and I yelled, "Get out of my kitchen.  This is my kitchen.  Stay out!   He said he lived there too but I said I own the kitchen.  Get out of it!!!!!!!!!

He has been very good about bossing me around the kitchen today. LOL

I am having problems with this keyboard.  so you will have to bear with me on this one.

Our garden is not doing well this year but the few things we have gotten from it are great.   If we get rain, the tomatoes will be saved.

I am worried about the cost of everything this winter so I have contacted the local farmers mart and they are going to make sure I know when the stuff comes in so I can get first chance on some of the things I want to freeze for this winter.

  1. I would imagine the lack of rain would be hampering things - the weeds in my flower bed are doing well though.

My husband is home all winter so he's well practiced at retirement - although I can't imagine him not dabbling in something.

  2. Good to hear from you. I laughed at the chili story. That is pretty funny. When I got married our first fight was over food. I laugh when I think back on it how stupid it was.

  3. Uh oh. I don't think he has his retirement planned. Hanging about the kitchen is no plan at all. But on short holidays, it's hard to get into a groove, so maybe it will go better when the real thing hits.

  4. Why don't YOU practice for his retirement by letting him do most of the kitchen work while you do something more fun!! Love Di ♥

  5. I would love for Pooldad to retire this September - we would have so much fun! Alas, we have 9 more years until the day we can hang out together all day. I know my beloved inlaws enjoy being retired together but my folks were happy Dad golfed. A lot! heehee

Congrats on your hubby's retirement. :)

  6. Diane...I would love to practice retirement and do when it comes to doing certain things that I do not like doing. He loves to iron and I have not touched an iron for a long time. I just hand it to him. *s*
