Candy coated memories.

I tried to get on Bernies blog but it would not work so I am going to do this blog now and visit her later.

I was talking to some friends and somehow the talk got around to candy many of us ate when were kids at halloween time. You know how excited you were to go out trick or treating then to come home and dig through those sacks of candy you had. These are a few of my favorites. I must not forget the candy corn and the countless chocolate candy bars...far too many for me to mentioned and I loved them all.

The only ones my mom freaked out over was the cigarettes. She was so afraid I would grow up to smoke just because I liked practicing on the candy ones. I would stand there for hours in front of the mirror and pretend to blow smoke rings. It was so 'grown up' ya' know. *s* All I know is that halloween in the fifties and sixties seemed like it was so much more fun then what it is now....

  1. Oh I loved those cigarettes Garnet. Do you remember the bubble gum ones that were wrapped in paper and when you blew into them powdered sugar would come and it would look like smoke? Love Di

I remember Halloween when I was a kid, it was so much fun. I agree times have changed for sure and I remember the same candy you do. We would fill a pillow case and then run home to get another one to fill and all us kids would sit around when we were done for the night, seeing who got the most, sharing everything that happened when we were out, laughing and trading candies....I love those memories. Have a Happy Halloween my friend....luv ya...Hugs

  5. Thanks for reminding me of the candy cigarettes. They were different times. We were even allowed to play with toy guns, and we could roam about freely on our own.

  6. I lived for candy when I was a kid and loved halloween. My favourite were McCormick's kisses (molasses taffy)which were only available at halloween. I think I was the only one who liked them. Probably why they stopped making them. Of course the chocolate bars were special - they never had them when I was really small - and they've kind of taken over along with little bags of chips. Hardly anyone gives away the suckers and rockets and gumballs that they used to.

  7. Everything seemed like more fun in the 60s. I wonder if it was because we were young.
